Prayers of SVD

May the darkness of sin
and the night of unbelief vanish before the light of the Word
and the Spirit of grace
and may the Heart of Jesus live
in the hearts of all people.

Three Missionaries

In the past mission week, the parish Mary Magdalene in Międzybrodzie Bialski was visited by students of the Mission Seminary in Pieniężno. These two seminarians from Indonesia - Yulius Dua and Francis Kelen came to the parish to share their experience. During the Mission Sunday and throughout the week, they shared their testimony at the church and in the Primary Schools in Międzybrodzie and Żarnówka.

Children and youth from parish groups also had the opportunity to listen to guests from Asia, ask them questions and learn songs in Indonesian. All the children, and all the members of the mission group led by Sister Boguchwała, were glad that they could meet missionaries from the other side of the world. Young people learned where Indonesia is located, as well as the island of Java, Flores, and Bali. The clerics said that there are about 17,000 islands in their country, and that people use almost 7,000 different languages. However, the official language is 'bahasa Indonesia'.

During their testimony, SVD students spoke about the difficulties they face in Poland. At the beginning, everything seemed very complicated, starting with the Polish language as well as the cuisine with a lot of bread and potatoes. Despite all kinds of problems, they have lived in the land of s. Pope John Paul II for three years. In the next two years they are going to finish their studies, take perpetual vows and receive priestly ordinations. Parishioners assured them of prayer and wished them good luck for their stay in Poland.

Along with the clerics, I had the opportunity to tell people that in November I would also start the missionary work in Indonesia at the seminary in Ledalero. It was a good chance to invite others to cooperate in the missionary work of the Church all over the world. May God bless us for missionary and apostolic work.
