The Visit
On Tuesday, July 16, 2019, I visited the family of father Kanis SVD in Boanio. We left at 6:00 and arrived at 8:00 a.m. Boanio is a village located in the Nagekeo area.
There we drank coffee with the nieces of fr. Kanis and with deacon Miki SVD from Lembata. Then we went to the garden where the chapel of the Blessed Mary is located. It was built by the family of fr. Kanis. The place is very quiet and beautiful. Parishoners can pray there and celebrate Eucharist.
After that we visited the brother of fr. Kanis. With them we told stories and enjoyed a delicious lunch. There were fish, rice, vegetables and local fruits. Then we went travelling again. We went to the large and new parish church. There we met with the SVD priest.
In the afternoon we also went by motorcycle to the SVD garden. There we took pictures together and saw the awesom panorama. In the rainy season there are rice fields in this place but now we only noticed the herds of cows and goats.
At 6:00 p.m. we returned to Mangulewa. We were quite tired and rested after this trip.
