Prayers of SVD

May the darkness of sin
and the night of unbelief vanish before the light of the Word
and the Spirit of grace
and may the Heart of Jesus live
in the hearts of all people.

TALITA KUM

During this week from Monday, February 10th, 2019, I accompany novices to follow a life-processing program in Malang. Participants are 41 novices from 7 congregations. This program is also conducted in each congregation. The novices are accompanied by an expert, priest and senior formator from the MSF congregation. We try to find out how we can be creative in assisting young aspirants to the religious life. Several methods are used in this program, including: mosaic of life experiences, dialogue, TAT & Rotter, psychodrama, and the art of making sculptures.

Open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit - the Great Formator, we try to be disciplined and faithful to undergo each process in an atmosphere of silence. Thus the novices get the opportunity to share in a groups of 8 novices with 2 companions. The assistants lead dialogue and study together as a team in order to find the most suitable way to assist the young novices individually and in a group. We try to help them get to know themselves and be more joyful in offering themselves to God.

After 6 years as a novice companion, I am grateful for this service. Every time I accompany the novices in the process, I also experience healing and growing in love of God. Every encounter brings a message of change. The experience of touching Jesus' robe, the experience of accepting Jesus in my home, the experience of letting Jesus hold my hand and listening to his words "TALITA KUM" ("I say to you, wake up!"). I also learn how a formator needs to express faith in the presence of novices.

I try to have a sincere, humble and courageous attitude towards Jesus. I continue to direct my eyes to Jesus and open my heart's ears so that Jesus' words: „Talita kum". In such a way I become better assistent to the young novices.
