Prayers of SVD

May the darkness of sin
and the night of unbelief vanish before the light of the Word
and the Spirit of grace
and may the Heart of Jesus live
in the hearts of all people.

My vocation

The story of my calling began in elementary school. In the second class I became an altar boy and often served at the parish church. However, in the secondary school I wanted to have a family. I fell in love with a girl and thought about our future together. At the age of 18 I clearly heard God calling me to be an apostle like the Apostle Paul.

That was so strong that during the retreat I decided to choose the priesthood. Besides that, there was a missionary in our parish and his testimony was also inspiring for me. That is why I decided to leave my dreams about family life and to follow Jesus.

I still had to say goodbye to the girl and to leave my relatives whom I loved. At the age of 19, I entered novitiate in the Society of Divine Word. Then I studied for six years in the major seminary in Poland. Besides that, I worked as a volunteer with children for a year. At the age of 25, I took perpetual vows, and after that I was ordained deacon and then priest.

I had to wait long for my mission appointment. More than 10 years. I worked for two years at the parish, then studied Classics, then patristic theology. In 2018, I started working as a missionary in Indonesia. I choose Christ all the time. My life for the Gospel requires allegiance to religious vows, and relinquishing my home and family. However, my vocation is a joy because there are many new sisters and brothers who accompany me on the journey towards Heaven.
