Holiday with God
The retreat for religious people is a beautiful gift from the congregation which we receive every year. It is the opportunity to recharge the battery. Father Paulus Agung Suhartana SVD, the first- supervisor for the SSpS Java Province, invited all participants to experience the "vacation with God".
This first time such a retreat was held at the St. Community Maria in Batu. It started from Monday, 6th up to Monday, 13th of May 2019. 23 sisters took part in this retreat.
In everyday life people usually are tired - both physically and mentally. They lose the depth of relations with themselves and with God. There are many things that we can achieve, but we feel that something is lacking. The fire of our vocation as a religious missionary Sister of the Holy Spirit is weaker and weaker.
Thanks to God that we have such an opportunity for retreat. The agenda was very well prepared by the sisters and the mission partners. Therefore, the participants were greatly helped to experience the real vacation with God. There was a lot of time for the meditation on the Scripture. We had also time for rest and enjoy good food.
This inner journey in the spiritual pilgrimage brings the conviction that the fruit of the retreat is repentance and renewal.
We could return to our communities with the awareness that the spirituality is the basis for living religious life in the the community. Spirituality is the soul which helps to proclaim the good news. Our strength comes from the personal relations with the Father who is the Source of love and mercy, and the Son who is Love that manifests itself (kenosis), and the Holy Spirit that moves, transforms and empowers.
