"We do not receive the spirit of the world, but the spirit that comes from God so that we may know what God has given us" (1 Cor 2: 12).
Earthquake in Lombok at the end of July 2018 is not removed from our awareness and still calls for our prayers. This event moved the hearts of many parties to do something that could ease the burden and suffering of others. Two months later deep sorrow came again with the earthquake and tsunami that occurred in Palu, Donggala, Sigi - Sulawesi, September 28, 2018.
How difficult it is for us to accept and understand this experience, especially for those who directly experience it. "What can humans do in the face of natural fears and the omnipotence of God?" The spirit of the world such as pride, greed and despair cannot provide place for faith, hope and love to face this reality. Only the Spirit of God helps us understand that God's compassion and mercy overcomes all human sufferings.
Therefore, we do not give up to serve others because we value the mission which God has given us.

Prayers of SVD
May the darkness of sin
and the night of unbelief vanish before the light of the Word
and the Spirit of grace
and may the Heart of Jesus live
in the hearts of all people.
