The Island of Flowers
Very warmly greetings from Flores, Indonesia. Here you can find always various types of flowers and trees. There are many religious vocations and local people with their own local cultures and languages.
It is always sunny here, even during the rain season. Flora and fauna are developing beautifully. On the one hand this is amazing for the tourist from Europe, and on the other hand a little dangerous. Amazing because everything is new, like: birds, animals, insects and so on.
Often the children taught me which tree you can touch without problem and which may cause skin disease. Similarly with snakes, scorpions, and other species of reptiles either in the sea or on the land. Tourists and missionaries learn everything step by step. Sometimes by your own mistakes like a small child.
There is still problem of denge - the disease transmitted by mosquitos. For example due to the Covid-19 only one person dies per day but because of denge approximately 50 per day in the same province. The locals are accostomed with denge. But they also often suffer if they and get sick easily. This is one more thing that missionary learns on the island.
Thanks to the grace of God and prayers of my friends, I have not experienced this disease yet. I rest properly and take care of health. In our mission seminary in Ledalero I have such an opportunity. I can play badminton or ping-pong. I can bike either early in the morning or in the afternoon.
