The Beautiful Gift
The most beautiful gift which missionary receives on the Flores island of Flores is the gratitude and smile of the locals. Although Asian culture is different from European culture, all of us are happy to receive a friendly smile. Of course, there are difficulties in missionary life. The missionary experiences loneliness, longing, lack of food from his country, but God's goodness and grace prevail. The SVD missionaries have evangelized on Flores for years, and now almost all people belong to the Catholic Church, not counting small Muslim communities.
We get spiritual and material support from people of goodwill who support missionaries in Indonesia for years. There are still Polish missionaries who give testify of their belief and who are faithful. Among them, Father Tadeusz Gruca and Father Stefan Wrosz SVD who are active, build churches, monasteries, schools, and hospitals. Now, also priests and nuns from Flores take their place. In my relatively short mission on Flores from 2018, I admire the zeal of older confreres and all missionaries, thanks to whom not only the Church but also the whole country has developed amazingly.
I’m grateful for all prayers and support. Thanks to it I can continue to work in the missionary seminary in Ledalero, on the island of Flores in Indonesia.
