STFK Ledalero
From 4th to 8th September 2019 Catholic School of Philosophy in Ledalero (STFK) celebrated a 50-year anniversary. There were many guests who came to give lectures and to enjoy with us. From the United States Father Stephen B. Bevans SVD and from Rome Father Superior General SVD Paul B. Kleden also joined the alumni, brothers, sisters and fathers at Major Seminary Ledalero.
At the beginning some SVD students and fathers went to the airport Maumere in order to pick up guests from other countries. Every day we had lunch and dinner together in the dining room at the seminary. The lecturers and students joined the traditional ceremony which was arranged by alumni. After that father Rector and the staff welcomed all guests at the hall with a special artistic program.
Every day two seminars took place in the afternoon and evening. On Thursday five parallel sessions began in the classes. Doctors from many universities gave lectures and taught about the Holy Trinity Community in Indonesia, contextual theology, religious freedom and also poverty in Flores.
Every night we could listen to the songs in local languages and see the traditional dances, such as the Shepherd Ballad, cultural and ethnic performances from NTT and Sikka Regency. On Saturday night there was a procession of 1000 candles to the cemetery which is a place where all our departed proffesors and conferers rest in peace.
Finally, on Sunday we celebrated the Holy Eucharist in front of the chapel in Ledalero. Bishop Edwaldus Martinus Sedu presided the mass and Father General Paul B. Kleden preached the homily. We closed the 50th anniversary of STFK Ledalero with the festive dinner.
