Prayers of SVD

May the darkness of sin
and the night of unbelief vanish before the light of the Word
and the Spirit of grace
and may the Heart of Jesus live
in the hearts of all people.

Independence Day

Poland - my Motherland. A country that stretches from the Beskidy Mountains in the south up to the Baltic Sea in the north. It includes green forests in the east, and its western natural border is the Odra River. The land of great Polish women and men, blessed and saints. The homeland of the missionary who is going to Indonesia to work at the seminar on Flores.

Poland - dear Motherland who gave me beloved parents, sister and brothers, as well as a religious family in which I have been growing for 20 years. I was born in a beautiful area in the Beskidy, in the village called Międzybrodzie Bialskie. There, I had my first friends and colleagues. We walked the mountain trails in the Tatras and Bieszczady together. There I first fell in love with the beauty which God created.

Poland - beloved Motherland. There, I was educated as a theologian, philologist, patrologist at the Universities in Olsztyn and Lublin. I had wonderful teachers from elementary school and later in high school in Bielsko-Biała. Then, I was led by professors who set the path to gain wisdom. It would not be possible without the gift of free Poland. In the seminary I was also educated by priests, religious people and nuns. From them I learned more and more to love God.

Thank you, my dear Motherland who celebrates your birthday. I pray for good and blessing for all Polish women and men. May Mary, Queen of Poland, surround you with her mantle of love. May God bless you, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
